FRAMINGHAM - Police arrested several teens Wednesday after a fight at Framingham High School that was sparked by a cellphone theft, authorities said.

One teen was taken to a local hospital to be treated after the 7:27 a.m. incident, police spokeswoman Lt. Patricia Grigas said.

In all, six teens have been charged in connection to the incident.

In a letter to parents on Wednesday, high school principal Carolyn Banach called the incident a "conflict."

"There was a conflict among some students at Framingham High School this morning. School Administration, School Resource Officers (SRO's), and Framingham Police Officers intervened and quickly addressed the matter. Charges have been filed against a few students and the Framingham Police Department is actively investigating the case," she wrote.

Banach could not be reached for comment on Thursday.

Three of the teens were arrested at the high school on Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. Two were charged with armed robbery, simple assault and battery, conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny from a person.

The third was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness, conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny from a person.

Two other juveniles were arrested at the Framingham Police station at 3 p.m. They were charged with armed robbery, intimidation of a witness and conspiracy to commit a crime.

A sixth suspect was arrested Thursday. The charges were not available.

The armed robbery charge is because the victim was kicked, and shoes are considered a weapon, Grigas said. A phone was taken during the incident, she said.

Grigas said it does not appear that Wednesday's incident was connected to a home invasion and fight at a Bradford Road home on Sept. 15 where numerous high school-aged juveniles were involved. In that incident, police arrested three adults and one juvenile.

All of the juveniles were scheduled to be arraigned in Framingham Juvenile Court. Juvenile court proceedings and their results are not public.

So three teens kicked one victim and there is no gang activity here?

Can't we just bring back corporal punishment and paddle them?

If they are illegal aliens , it should be public.

The courts will make tons of money over the theft of one phone. Processing six teens thru our money grubbing courts? Is it worth it over corporal punishment? Over a phone?

Probably not english.

Susan Petroni, Framingham Source Editor 508-315-7176 Framingham Source
FRAMINGHAM - There were multiple cruisers at Framingham High School to start and end the day, beyond the two assigned school resources officers.

When Source asked for clarification on the incidents, the following statement was issued:

"There was a conflict among some students at Framingham High School this morning. School Administration, School Resource Officers (SRO's), and Framingham Police Officers intervened and quickly addressed the matter. Charges have been filed against a few students and the Framingham Police Department is actively investigating the case."

Students reported to Source there was a fight near the bridge between two groups of students.

An ambulance was seen this morning at the high school by several students, and multiple students reported one student being treated.

Framingham Police Lt. Patricia Grigas said there was a fight and a theft of a cell phone, that is considered a robbery.

Framingham Police is still investigating, but three students, all minors, will be charged, at this time.

Crime is an economic activity.

We should check to see if any of those students involved are illegal aliens .
