Death By Government by R.J. Rummel

Since 3,500 BC, there have been a suspected 14,000 wars or conflicts that have killed some 3.5 billion people.

In total, during the first eighty-eight years of the twentieth century, almost 170 million men, women, and children have been shot, beaten, tortured, knifed, burned, starved, frozen, crushed, or worked to death; buried alive, drowned, hung, bombed, or killed in any other of the myriad ways governments have inflicted death on unarmed, helpless citizens and foreigners. The dead could conceivably be nearly 360 million people.

It is as though our species has been devastated by a modern Black Plague. And indeed it has, but a plague of Power, not of germs."

New conceptions require new terms. By "genocide" we mean the destruction of a nation or of an ethnic group. This new word coined by the author to denote an old practice in its modern development, is made from the ancient greek word genos (race, tribe) and the Latin cide killing), thus corresponding in its formation to such words as tyrannicide, homicide, infanticide, etc. Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be disintegration of the political and social institutions of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups. Genocide is directed against the national group as an entity, and the actions involved are directed against the individuals, not in their individual capacity, but as members of the national group.

And this was before nuclear weapons .

The total bomb tonnage used in WW2 by all sides was about three (3) megatons. Now the planet is armed with some 15,000 nuclear weapons, each averaging 100 kilotons. Hiroshima was about 15 kilotons. This exceeds the number of cities on the planet. In an all out conflict, each city over 50,000 population could get 200 kilotons.

The fact that the human community is fractured on the basis of religious doctrines that are fundamentally incompatible with each other, in an age when nuclear weapons are proliferating is a terrifying scenario

Consider Operational Plan 8010-12 . A small manual discussing all out nuclear war and killing more than three BILLION people.

Then there is The Forbidden Question .

Here's a short list of nuclear war movies to wet your appetite

Now, let's talk gun control, you idiot.

Enlightening Thoughts on Gun Control
Why should I trust the police with their guns if
they won't trust me with mine?

The police carry guns to protect themselves, not you.

Guns cause crime like flies cause garbage.

The police and press will tell you that most gun owners are those named Bubba
and have a single digit IQ, but look who's talking.

I approve of any development that makes it more difficult for
governments and criminals to monopolize the use of force.
As 3D printers become less expensive and more ubiquitous, this
could be a major step in the right direction.

We should arm ourselves to the teeth in case the idiots
in government try to pull off a coup.

Federal law does not prohibit individuals from making
their own firearms at home, and that includes AR-15s

The Second Amendment is only a danger to government safety as it was intended to be.

The Second Amendment is what is protecting us from exactly what our forefathers were concerned about, tyranny by the government.

The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

-- Thomas Jefferson

History shows us that another tragedy of gun laws is genocide. Hitler, for example, knew well that in order to enact his alleged "final solution," disarmament was a necessary precursor. While it is not always the case that an unarmed populace WILL be killed by their government, if a government is going to kill its own people, it MUST disarm them first so they cannot fight back. Disarmament must happen at a time when overall trust in government is high, and under the guise of safety for the people, or perhaps the children. Knowing that any government, no matter how idealistically started, can become despotic, the Founding Fathers enabled the future freedom of Americans by enacting the Ssecond Smendment.

The Liberal Theology of Gun Control

Guns are what you talk about to avoid having to talk about Islamic/Christian terrorism.

Today's liberalism cannot deal with the reality of evil, so liberals inveigh against the instruments of evil rather than the evil that motivates them.

Buying a gun for someone else to circumvent legal restrictions is known as a "straw purchase" and is a felony. Using it to shoot innocent people is also a felony. The bottom line is that Congress can only make illegal activities even more illegal.

Such is the logic of modern gun control.

Missing in the media hysteria about this is the fact that all federal gun sale requirements must still be met, no different than if you were buying a gun at a retail store...or gun show...or the internet...

My theology of gun control is that each time a story comes out that makes liberals want to control guns, I donate more money to nice organizations like the NRA

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06 right in the doorway. I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.

In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people.

Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World. But if you take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington, DC and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S. ALL 4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.
